In 2014, Luke Putney was onstage at the Buckhead Theater in Atlanta alongside his mentor, 5-time Grammy Award winning Victor Wooten, for a charity concert. That event raised over $130,000 for the Center for the Visually Impaired, a non-profit organization in Atlanta.

USA Today caught up with Luke Putney on the campus of Belmont University, interviewing him about a Tennessee law which grants guide dog users access to any public establishment — without having to provide documentation — matching the standard in the Americans with Disabilities Act.

90.1FM WABE-FM (NPR) interviewed Luke Putney when DoSomething.org and The Foot Locker named him as one of their top ten Scholar Athletes in the country. Putney said that losing his vision actually motivated him to accomplish more with his life.
